Buying Practices That Actually Work — Structured and Clear
Penna Vale helps Malaysian organisations tidy their procurement processes and vendor relationships. Practical advisory, no jargon, sensible steps forward.
Three Ways We Can Help
Each engagement is scoped to fit where your organisation currently stands — whether that's a quick review or building a full procurement practice from the ground up.
Procurement Health Check
A practical review of how your business buys goods and services, looking for duplication, unclear approvals, and simple savings through better habits. Includes a working session and a short suggestions note.
- Current flow mapping
- Approval gap identification
- Savings opportunity notes
Vendor Management Engagement
A multi-week project to tidy how you select, brief, and review suppliers, with simple templates and a fairer, clearer process. Suited to growing companies managing more vendors.
- Process mapping & templates
- Supplier review framework
- Fairer vendor selection steps
Procurement Practice Programme
A wider advisory engagement that helps an organisation set up a steady, sensible procurement practice — clear steps, supplier scorecards, and light reporting. Tailored to your size.
- Workshops & practice guide
- Supplier scorecards
- Reporting outline included
A Cleaner Buying Process Has a Measurable Effect
When procurement is ad hoc, costs creep, approvals stall, and supplier relationships drift. Organising how you buy changes those outcomes in a lasting way.
Clearer Purchase Paths
Defined approval steps mean fewer delays and less back-and-forth when your team needs to buy something quickly and properly.
Fairer Vendor Selection
Structured vendor assessment means you choose suppliers on merit and consistent criteria, not just familiarity or convenience.
Visible Spend Patterns
A tidy process surfaces where money is going — duplicated suppliers, overlooked contracts, and categories worth consolidating become visible.
Reusable Templates
Practical documentation your team can actually use — briefing templates, review forms, and scorecards that stay useful beyond the engagement.
Stronger Supplier Relations
When vendors understand your expectations clearly from the start, the relationship tends to run more smoothly on both sides.
Light, Useful Reporting
Simple reporting that management can read without a lengthy briefing — spend summaries, vendor performance notes, and trend flags.
Have a Look at Your Current Buying Process — It Might Be Simpler to Fix Than You Think
The Procurement Health Check is a good first step. One working session, a clear set of notes, and a practical view of what's worth addressing.
Frequently Asked
What kind of organisations do you typically work with?
Most of our clients are Malaysian SMEs and mid-sized companies whose buying has grown informally — often with 20 to 200 staff. They may not have a dedicated procurement team but are spending enough that an unorganised approach is starting to cause friction. We also work with larger organisations reviewing specific categories or departments.
How long does the Procurement Health Check take?
Typically one to two weeks from the initial working session to the delivery of the suggestions note. We schedule a half-day session to walk through your current purchasing flow, ask questions, and map what we find. The written output follows within a few days of that session.
Is the Vendor Management Engagement suitable for a company with just a handful of suppliers?
It depends on complexity more than headcount. If you have five vendors but the process for selecting and briefing them is unclear or inconsistent, the engagement is worth considering. If your supplier base is genuinely simple and stable, the Health Check may cover enough ground on its own.
Do you handle implementation, or is this purely advisory?
Our engagements are advisory — we provide frameworks, templates, and working sessions, but implementation is carried out by your own team. The Procurement Practice Programme includes workshop time specifically to help your team understand and apply what we put in place together.
What are your fees and how is payment structured?
Fixed-scope engagements are priced as shown: RM 590 for the Health Check, RM 2,650 for the Vendor Management Engagement, and RM 4,450 for the Procurement Practice Programme. Payment is typically split between an upfront amount and a final balance on delivery. We invoice in Ringgit Malaysia and do not charge ongoing retainer fees unless separately agreed.
How do we get started?
Reach out via the contact form below or call us directly. We'll schedule a short introductory call to understand your situation and discuss which engagement makes sense. There's no obligation from that conversation — we want to make sure it's a good fit before either side commits.
